The Annual IOR Dinner is where contractors and manufacturers, engineers and technicians come together as individuals to celebrate achievements past and present and support the Institute as a registered educational and scientific charity. The perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and strengthen ties within the industry.

The Institute of Refrigeration provides a prize of £500 and a Medal to for the best paper and presented in their programme of free evening lectures which are published in the Annual IOR Proceedings. The award is supported by us at Lightfoot Defence in honour of the Past President of the Institute, Kenneth Lightfoot.

Prof. Tom Davies received the award at the IOR Annual Dinner 2015 for the paper “A novel low energy defrost process for the frozen food chain” presented in the 2013-14 IOR evening paper series. The papers co-authors are Robin Campbell and Varun Thangamani.

The paper described a new low temperature defrost system which requires virtually no extra energy and which greatly reduces the temperature rise of the freezer contents during defrost.
